When it all becomes too much....

I'd like to consider myself to be a nice person.
I would do anything for anyone.
But lately, I've been really disappointed in people.
People I used to be close to are now at a noticeable distance.

And to me, it seems like it happened overnight.
I know it didn't, but that's the way it feels.

We used to be a tight knit family.
But now we all do our own thing.
Not that I'm complaining, I've found that I kinda like it this way.
The lack of interest from other members of the family, just seems to make our bond even stronger.
Because we only have each other.

Everyone else is too busy with other things.
Mostly things involving money or extravagance.

And that's ok.
I know what's important to me.
I don't need material things.
I just need the other nine people in my life that make me the happiest girl in the world.

So, to those who are always there: JJ, Mommy, Daddy, Jake, Girlfriend, Izzybelle, Brandon, DesaRae, and Joe. I love you all.
All we need is each other.

I have many things to be thankful for this year, but the thing that means the most to me is my family. I have the best one that a girl could ask for.

First of all, I have amazing parents. They have been there for me through thick and thin. Taught me many valuable lessons. Loved me when I didn't really deserve it. And I don't think that I could ask for anything more. They have been married for 25 years, something I hope to achieve some day. They are truly an inspiration. (I love you Mommy and Daddy!)

Which brings me to JJ, my boyfriend of close to 3 years. He is by far the most amazing guy a girl could ask for. He is my soulmate. My other half. And I would honestly be lost without him.

I am also thankful for my 3 amazing younger brothers. Jakey, B-ran, and Joe. I am so proud to be their big sister. And it's nice to know that even though I'm the oldest, they have my back. They would do anything for me. And they are the three funniest guys that you will ever meet. There is never a dull moment!

Girlfriend, my sister-in-law...I always wondered what it would be like to have a sister, and now I don't have to. It's the coolest thing ever. I have so much fun with her. Especially arguing over Team Edward or Team Jacob.

And Unique, she's pretty much like my comic relief. I never stop laughing when she's around. I hope to call her my sister-in-law one day as well! And I owe her for giving me the courage to wear socks that don't match! hehe!

And last but not least, Isabelle, my niece. I never knew it was possible to love someone so much. It is such an honor to be her Aunt. And to watch her grow and learn right before my eyes. It is an amazing feeling.

I love you all with all of my heart!

What is Labor Day?

Labor Day is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5, 1882, in New York City, in accordance with the plans of the Central Labor Union. The Central Labor Union held its second Labor Day holiday just a year later, on September 5, 1883.
In 1884 the first Monday in September was selected as the holiday, as originally proposed, and the Central Labor Union urged similar organizations in other cities to follow the example of New York and celebrate a "workingmen's holiday" on that date. The idea spread with the growth of labor organizations, and in 1885 Labor Day was celebrated in many industrial centers of the country.

That is the proper definition, but what does it mean to you?

To me, it means an extra day off to spend with the ones you love. Relatives, friends, or neighbors.
Throw some things on the grill and just have a good time. Play some horse shoes, cards, or monopoly. (Poker in my family. heehee.)

I'll be spending the evening with my family, enjoying some good ole' Catfish and Fries.

I recently purchased this mascara on a whim. The tube is really cute, so I just had to have it.

It is described as an Extreme Length and Curl Mascara. I wasn't expecting anything great from it, because I have tried several mascaras with that same description many times before. So, the first time I tried it, I was amazed! It lengthened, curled, and separated my lashes!

I was so excited! I decided that this was to be my new FAVORITE mascara. Until I read that it has been DISCONTINUED!

Delicious Recipe

Mountain Dew Apple Cobbler

2 yellow delicious apples (peeled, cored, and cut into 16 slices)
2 cans crescent rolls
2 sticks of butter
1 1/2 cups of sugar
1 12 oz can of Mountain Dew
Cinnamon

Take slice of apple and roll up in a crescent roll. Spray a 9x13 pan with Pam
and place apples rolled in crescent rolls on the bottom of the pan.

In a seperate pan, bring to a boil, butter and sugar

Pour over crescent rolls and apple slices.

Pour can of Mountain Dew over rolls and apples.

Sprinkle generously with cinnamon.

Bake for 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown.

Grandpa

As I sit here, I'm thinking about my Grandpa Frank.
He passed away a year and 4 months ago.
He had cancer.
Cancer.
Just thinking about the word sends shivers down my spine.
I never thought it would happen to him. I looked up to and admired him. I thought he was invincible.
I was so proud to call him my Grandpa. Other than my Dad, he was the best man I have ever known.
He was so full of life. And he was never short on stories to tell. Although, if you heard one, chances are it wasn't your first time.
He was a true outdoorsman. He loved to hunt and fish. He was also quite fond of arrowhead hunting.
He loved to cook for us. He loved sweet tea. He loved Taz. He loved his family. He loved taking walks and picking up coins. He loved my Mom's homemade biscuits. (He said he loved mine too, although I know they didn't taste so hot.) Most importantly, he loved me.
And I love him. That is something that will go on forever. Along with the pain that I feel because he isn't here. He won't dance at my wedding, something he always promised would happen. He won't be here when I have my first child. A child that would love him just as much as I do.
Sometimes I get so angry, so angry that I want to scream. Why him? One of the kindest people in the world. Why did this have to happen?
He didn't deserve that kind of pain.
But, God must have had something better in store for him. I have to believe in that. Otherwise, the pain eats at me. Sometimes to the point that I can't cry anymore tears.
Sometimes I wonder if I said I love you enough. And when I think about it, I feel that I didn't.
So, I'm going to do that now.
Grandpa, I love you and miss you more than I ever thought possible. Not a day goes by where I don't think about you. I know in my heart that you are no longer in pain, but selfishly, I wish I would've had just one more minute with you. To hold your hand, kiss your forehead, and tell you that I love you with all of my heart.

So. I've been feeling a bit crappy lately. People are really starting to get under my skin. Fake people mostly. You know, the ones that say one thing to you and turn around and say the exact opposite to other people. Which if you ask me, is totally ridiculous.
I've encountered several people like this over the weekend. The one good thing about it is this, I'm all grown up now. I don't have to deal with it. If I know something is wrong, I'm gonna say something about it. I don't really care who you are.
I've spent my entire life being one of those people that never stood up for themselves. I was always the girl who would run away and cry. That girl is long gone. It's tiring to be that person. Always letting people get the best of you. It's completely pointless.

1. Halo 3. My Boyfriend got me into it and now I am totally obsessed.

2. Curly hair. I usually prefer it straight, but I'm really feeling the curls right now.

3. Speaking my mind. I'm usually really quiet, but lately people have been getting under my skin.

4. Tropical Sno. The official start to summer for me.

5. Coastal Scents. They have amazing products.

Current Dislikes

1. Hot weather. I hate to sweat.

2. Family health issues. Totally stresses me out.

3. Shaving my legs. I feel like it takes forever. I absolutely hate it.

May 20th was my 2 year anniversary with my boyfriend JJ.
He got me a couple of really neat things, so I thought I'd share what I got.

The Coastal Scents 78 Palette, which is amazing. The colors are really pigmented. I'll be playing with this alot in the future.

He also got me the 13 piece brush set from Coastal Scents. I love them. They are super soft and easy to work with.

I should probably update this more often, I just always make excuses not to.

Some exciting things have been going on lately. The boys in my family joined a softball league. They've been trying to practice a few days a week. It's super fun to watch. Plus, it brings us all together, which is more than wonderful. The girls just sit in the bleachers and laugh at the boys for a few hours. It's quite enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the season starting.

My niece is getting soooo big. She's really getting brave about walking on her own. Although, she wants us to hold her hand sometimes. She's learning a ton of new words, trying new foods (she'll eat anything you give her, she's not picky), just a ton of new and exciting things. She's my little sidekick. I can't wait to put make up on her!

I started reading New Moon for the millionth time today. It is my favorite from the Twilight series. I can't wait for the movie!

I went fishing over the weekend. It was gorgeous, but too windy. Needless to say, we didn't catch a single thing.

Today it's just been raining non stop. Although it can be annoying if you have outdoor plans, I tend to enjoy it. For me, it is very calming.

Well, I think that's about it for now. I'm gonna make myself update more often.
